Saint John, NB (June 21, 2019) – The Global Cannabis Partnership (GCP) is pleased to welcome its first Israeli member: Israel-Cannabis (iCAN).
iCAN supports the cannabis technology industry by building a network of innovative companies. iCAN leads CannaTech, an international cannabis summit that offers senior industry leaders, medical and scientific experts, and new ventures the opportunity to come together, form partnerships and promote knowledge exchange.
iCAN promotes investigator-driven, medical cannabis studies through the iCAN Give collaboration, which addresses the needs of Israeli physicians exploring the potential of cannabis for the relief of medical conditions.
“The nascent legal global cannabis industry requires a standard for responsible consumer use and broader economic and environmental performance,” says Saul Kaye, founder, and CEO of iCAN. “We are thrilled to partner with the GCP and together build credibility for government agencies, industry players and the global cannabis ecosystem.”
The GCP currently has 45 members from around the globe.
“iCAN’s international network and experience in the Israeli medical research industry will be an important asset for the GCP’s membership,” says Kim Wilson, Executive Director of the GCP. “We’re excited to continue expanding our mandate across the world.”
The GCP is a partnership of organizations who want to raise the bar with respect to social responsibility in the legal cannabis industry. Membership is open to government agencies, private-sector cannabis industry organizations, and affiliate organizations that directly or indirectly play a role in the legal cannabis supply chain.
One of the GCP’s first activities was to create the Responsible Cannabis Framework (RCF), which defines the corporate social responsibility (CSR) standards to which all Members agree to adhere. The RCF was released in June 2019.
